Emily Busvine
“I think what I've been enjoying the most is that even though this is more of a specialisation in terms of what career path it would lead me towards, it's still very varied and there is a huge variety of courses on offer!” Emily Busvine is a first year student of the Master in Advanced International Studies at Diplomatische Akademie Wien. “I did my undergraduate in politics and social anthropology. It follows on very naturally from my previous study path with a more practical application.”
Laura Vujcic
“Studying at the Diplomatic Academy was a childhood dream of mine. I met many people along the way, many diplomats who already had an international career. I could ask questions and speak at a personal level”, says Laura Vujcic, who is in the one-year Diploma Programme. “It's an interdisciplinary approach and the Diplomatic Academy offers what no other school does in Austria, lots of trainings and professional skills.”
Paula Jahn
“There are several courses that are offered here that stick out to me for certain reasons, one of them was the International Environmental Law, something I hadn't actually known as a course topic before.” Paula Jahn is a second-year student at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, focusing on Advanced International Studies. “I was looking for a comprehensive overview of international relations which still includes a broad range of topics, such as economics, history, and international law.”
Corina Traistaru
“The aspect that excites me the most is the interaction with the professors and students. The Diplomatic Academy is not a big institution, students here have the unique opportunity to interact with specialists and leaders.” Corina Traistaru is studying Interdisciplinary International Studies at Diplomatische Akademie Wien. “I decided to come here for my Master because of the good reputation. I was particularly drawn to the fact that the Diplomatic Academy is one of the oldest institutions that trains diplomats.”
Victor Van de Poll
“I think the DA is a great place for different kinds of people, all looking to gain a better understanding of how the world works, and are looking for a career in an international organisation or national government.” Victor Van de Poll studies Advanced International Studies at the Diplomatische Akademie Wien. “I very much appreciate the diverse background of people that come here, we have lawyers, economists, international relations experts, historians – and that all interconnects well in classes.”
Tatiana Chernyavskaya
“The course is for those who are interested in the environment and saving our planet for future generations and want to know what exactly stands behind concepts like the Paris agreement on climate change”, says Tatiana Chernyavskaya, who studies Environmental Technology and International Affairs at Diplomatische Akademie. “I was already working in the field, at the crossroads of environmental and sustainable development.”
Brigitte Simone Gerstmann
“So far, the course that I liked the most was Development Economics. Our professor really showed us that there is no black and white answer to certain questions”, says Brigitte Simone Gerstmann who studies Environmental Technology and International Affairs at Diplomatische Akademie Wien. “The best aspect in general is that it allows to combine fields that were historically separated, humanities and technical studies.”
