The limitations of my job are probably time and money. This is simply because the company has to be sustainable. We are also trying to create a very reliable and scalable system. I guess that's the biggest challenge. My job title is the team

Worum geht es in Deinem Job?

lead cloud operations. I work at Admiral Whitten in the branch of Admiral Technologies. We're providing all the infrastructure and technical expertise for our betting systems that are providing the product to various customers within Europe. My job is all about keeping up with the business goals of our company. I guess that means we're very fast growing. We need to be very scalable and very flexible for the future. We're expanding to multiple countries all over Europe. At the moment we're migrating from an on-premise environment to a cloud environment to accommodate the issues that we're facing right now. We are supporting the whole network stack all the way up to the VMs and also some of the applications running on top of it. That includes Kubernetes clusters, some non-relational databases, and message brokers as well. Everything that comes with them in terms of observability, monitoring, and alerting. We're supporting everything very common within the industry. We are trying to get our software to a customer as reliable and as secure as possible.

Welche Ausbildung und/oder Fähigkeiten sind notwendig für Deinen Job?

In terms of education and skills, I don't think that you need a specific training or degree for it. It can definitely help you. Since the IT is a very fast-moving industry, you definitely have to learn and adapt a lot. In terms of basic skills that you need for the job, I'd say you have to have a very good understanding of basic networking, and coding. Know how to deploy your infrastructure on a cloud provider like AWS, for example, with infrastructure as code.

I would recommend Admiral Technologies to a friend. It's a very safe, modern, but also flexible work environment. We as engineers can work with a lot of very cool tech.
